| Sketch-a-Day -- Sinful Woman 5 |
[Nov. 9th, 2009|04:02 pm] |
I took a break from art yesterday as chores were piling up and family was missing me. Indulged myself in MUX through the afternoon. Man, I needed the mental break! Finished this one today:

The men at dinner react to Jesus' story about the debt collector.
Jesus: Who do you think he loved more?
Simon: The one most indebted to him, I suppose.
Jesus: You assume correctly... |

| NeonDragonArt Etsy Shop |
[Nov. 9th, 2009|03:34 pm] |
Time for some shameless self promotion!
Sue (my wonderful mother who many of you have met at conventions) opened up a NeonDragonArt.com etsy shop for discontinued or limited quantity items. Etsy is very easy to use, and she and I are very excited about it. In the etsy store you will find some con-only items, discontinued (and thus discounted) items, and some popular items from the neondragonart store.
At the etsy store we have a pair of throw pillows left over from Youmacon. We walked into the show with 25 pillows and left with two; they were very popular! Because the pillows must be ordered in bulk, we can't place orders for them often and thus we don't carry them in the NeonDragonArt.com Store on neondragonart.com itself. Because of this, they're pretty much a con-only item. They make great xmas gifts! Very soft.

We also have t-shirt designs that we've discontinued carrying from conventions. We're selling these shirts at etsy for a discounted price. For available sizes, check the description. You can still order any design on any color of shirt off the NeonDragonArt.com site store, but you will pay full price.

There's also fun things like keepsake boxes, dogtags, and buttons available as well.

Click here to take a peek at our etsy shop. Thank you! |

Title: A Wizard's Love is a Bitter One (L'amore di un mago è amaro) Pairing: SS/SB (past SS/LM, platonic there-but-not-there parental-thingy SS/AD) Rating: R Disclaimer: All characters are Rowling's. Never mine. Summary: The saying went “the path of true love never runs the way you wanted them to, or something like that.” (Snape/Black, past SS/LM, and therefore Slash) Warning: AU, something a little like revisionist history, something a little like whimsy, many disregards of canon. Unbeta-ed. Story notes are here. Other notes: Extended part 1 to post it in its entirety (finally! after much gnashing of teeth over the previously-posted snippet), and added part 2.

Not that anyone cares, but today I did manage to make the banner for my last ddr mix.

Brawl drew me a icon a while back, then it hit me it would look kick ass for the final banner. So a few moments later, done. Mostly been all I could do today. Been worried about Banin. I think he's getting better. No accidents or anything today *crosses fingers* God, if I'm like this when my dog is sick, I dunno what I'll be like when my kid is sick.
Off to bed and to start another wonderful work week... And as much as I still kinda hate having to go in, I'm so happy I do get to go in. I have odd feelings. |

Been to this con before. Looking for a room.
I take floor space; I personally do not care less. I'd sleep on the ceiling if I could.
I'm female and I'll room with anyone. If you're trying to set something up for FWA in the future and looking for a reliable roomate, hit me up.

| Bad Stuff: The Peter Vadala Story (a post with music) |
[Nov. 7th, 2009|12:30 am] |

A senior thesis idea for communications major Peter Vadala has turned into a campus-wide "Culture of Life" project that will soon evolve into "College Musical," a movie intended to spread the message of God's grace to secular audiences.
The project started out simply as a script that Vadala was writing for his thesis. When Vadala chose to actually create the movie, the project grew to include nearly 30 musicians, vocalists, actors and technical crew.
At first Vadala's script focused on abortion, but as he revised, he decided to focus on an anti-pornography message. Vadala said he can understand the issue, since he has met men who struggle with pornography. ( That Guy Isn't Me ) |

A scene of Gilgamesh and Butz re-uniting for the first time in the Converged world. Both are characters from Final Fantasy V (though Gilgamesh spans several games). This is non-edited, taken directly from MUX rp. Happy reading.

| | chipper | ] | Hi guys!
I wanted to give you a heads up on what's going to be happening with Vinci & Arty in the next year. :)
I didn't want to take another extended hiatus this time around with the baby on the horizon, mostly because I can't predict how much time I would need, as opposed to say, when we took the breaks off for the wedding and the cross country moves and stuff. So, I've been in contact with a group of very kind, very talented and generous artists who will be taking over the strip for me while I am on "maternity leave". You'll get to see the characters in a host of different styles, see some great art, maybe meet an artist you've haven't seen work from before, etc etc etc. :) These folks will help conclude the current story arc and chapter, and bring us into Chapter 4, and then I'll take over the strip again sometime next year (hopefully once we've settled in with the kiddo). :)
The guest marathon of awesome should begin sometime in January. :) Watch for it!

| | irritated | ] | Ugh.
I went to take a nap because I was getting a huge headache (and that equals me gettig moody). Everything was fine until I was woken up for dinner. Then, my entire family decided to just be really loud and obnoxious - my headache had almost gone away, but they should know already that I NEVER wake up from naps in a good mood. They could clearly see that I was in a bad mood, and what do they do? Pick on me relentlessly. I got fed up and left. Fuck off, all of you. Enjoy your shitty dinner without me. Now my headache is back.
And on top of that? Today's RP!S. I didn't see the secret and I don't know who the person in question was, but Jesus Christ, I did not need to see such disgustingly insensitive comments. Reading all this wank over a girl who just died seriously made me feel shittier. People are so fucking stupid.
Way to fucking go, humanity. |

Today sucked.
Didn't have to talk on air but the radio gave out wrong info on a sale and yeah. Kinda not good. None of us caught it because we obviously aren't listening to the radio and when it was finally brought to my attention their broadcast was done. Dickballs.
Head hurts a lot.
But there was a coupon for buy two paperbacks get one free so I took the chance to buy the two Psych novels and some random novel. I will be sure to give a good review on the MAGIC one for SAMN. But as I was flipping through it.....I know the trend nowadays is to ignore other ways to say "said." People have such a grudge against "exlaimed" or "shouted" or even "said enigmatically." But Good God.

Flipping through the book is a veritable sea of saids.
I want to do goffy Psych fancomics a la Metalocalypse but have no ideas which blows.
God my head hurts.
RANDOM PSYCH QUOTE: Juliet: Shawn, how do you know this? Shawn: The same way that I know that as a child Lassie wanted nothing more than a pony? Lassiter: Oh, come on. Who didn't? Gus: Anyone who wasn't an 8 year-old-girl. |

[Nov. 7th, 2009|03:01 pm] |
This illustrates the other side of the debt collector with the two indentured men. For narrative purposes, I wanted to show his face. I was going to have him tearing up their records of debt, but I thought that might seem too hokey and literal. I was going to have the men celebrating, but thought that was better suited to children's books. In the end, it might be a little too subtle and static, but that may be helped with the voice over narration.

Yes! The latest recreation of Charles Dicken's A Chirstmas Carol was not only done right, I am left with curiousity if it's better then anything that has come, before.
Disney did not spare much of anything, here. The plot is so wordy, it can almost drive the movie further then the incredible visuals, at times. It reaches in deep to the original story and pulls out a great worth that other incarnations may have missed. Then, there's the use of this new age 3-D. At times, it will throw something in your face. (Like the snow flakes and that whip.) But, they rarely use it as an assaulting gimic and almost utilize it to make the whole experience somehow enriching. That depth has something all it's own to say. Which is something that not all 3-D movies can even hope to promote. The movie does have about a half dozen (or more) virtual rides. Can feel like being on a kind of roller coaster. Guess Disney would like that kind of stuff. The visuals move quickly and go in any virtual direction to create thrills. Sadly, seeing any previews pretty much rob all the best parts from those moments. Don't expect much plot movement. Just, camera movement. However, between the action scenes comes the meat and potatoes that make the movie go so deeply...perhaps, to the point that a child might become bored with. The scripture feels like it was pulled from the era of the original writing. If a picture can say a thousand words, they used every one up. Be interesting to play older movie versions, side by side, to see if any of them can measure up. In fact, it almost challenges the audience to think just a little bit. Then, there's that visual richness that took from Polar Express and egged it on to modern complexities. True. There's hardly a frame that could fool the eye into thinking it was real. But, sur-real is perfect. They pull off some visuals that real life would be a hard challenge to film. Still, nearly every moment of the film was a treasure trove for the eyes. In fact, Jim Carrey was so good, you almost couldn't tell he was in the film at all. If the credits were removed and any notions wiped clean, it be very hard to tell just how many characters he gave voice to. And, a nod to how far computers have come. If this is what virtual reality is for today, what will it be like, 30 years down the road? Will the computer have so much power that real life images will be as easy as math to it? Rant about Scrooge over. On to personal life: Work just traded my Monday off for a Saturday! Joy!!! I'm going to a local Renascence Fair in celebration for the rare weekend day! Hope to take lots of pictures/video. And, I half expect to see the new PlayStation 3 drive, when I get home. Also, got that winning prize gift card. Picked up the latest Katamari game. A bit pricy, though. At $50, I might not have otherwise bothered. |
